Charles Shi is an International Student Advisor and RCIC at the University of British Columbia. He has a Master’s degree from the University of Oregon in the United States. Before he started to work at UBC in 2005, Charles had taught in universities in China, the United States and Canada for many years.
At UBC, in addition to international student advising, Charles was involved in many initiatives, programs and projects including International Student Orientation, iMED, ASIST (a pilot program before Jump Start), Transition Out Program, Work Learn, International Peer Advisors Program and Early Alert. Charles has presented a number of workshops on international education and international student advising at national and regional conferences as well as numerous workshops on study permits, work permits and visas at UBC.
