François was born and raised in Ottawa. He moved to Vancouver in 2001 to study criminology at SFU where he met his wife, Kavitha. After graduating, François spent one year working for Pivot Legal Society in the DTES. He then obtained his LL.B. (now J.D.) at UBC. François articled for the Department of Justice and was called in 2009. He has worked in the Public Safety, Defence and Immigration portfolio of the DOJ since. His practice is split between immigration work and civil litigation for the RCMP and CSC. Francois’s immigration practice is limited to the Federal Court. He has conduct on behalf of the MCI and MPSEP of JRs of various decisions including RPD and PRRA, deferrals, most types of visas and PR applications, and citizenship.
