   o including the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and associated Regulations, Program Delivery Instructions / Operational Manuals, Ministerial Instructions and Operational Bulletins
   o Where to find and how to navigate through the resources
   o How to make effective use of resources – from daily practice to advocacy on behalf of client
   o Distinguishing between legislation and guidance – and how to use effectively in submissions

- Case scenario: Best practices when meeting a new client
   o How to assess client’s needs
   o What are the right questions to ask to find the underlying issues in a case?
o Obtaining the necessary documentation
   o Identifying problems – and how to discuss these in a constructive manner with the client
   o Use of legislative or operational resources – both to determine potential advocacy avenues and as an explanatory tool for the client

   o Identification of who your client is – steps to confirm identity prior to providing legal services, including when there’s a lack of identification documents
   o obligations (or lack of) to other parties including family and friends, including limitations on ability to disclose materials or discuss issues
