With the launch of Express Entry in 2015 Canada's Immigration Department abandoned the use of occupation specific selection in favour of a system where workers in any skilled profession could be invited to apply for permanent residence.
Nonetheless some clients may not be eligible for Express Entry or may need more time to qualify. These individuals may benefit from certain work permit programs or Provincial Nomination Programs aimed at retaining foreign nationals with experience in a specific occupation, to gain or extend temporary resident status, or to enhance their comprehensive ranking score.
● Express Entry
● The national occupation classification (NOC)
● The Global Talent Stream
