Sjarif is a Partner with Business Immigration Law Group. Previously, he articled with and worked as an Associate Lawyer for a leading immigration law firm in Ottawa, Ontario from July 2008 until May 2013.

Sjarif has several years of experience in successfully filing Canadian citizenship applications and Canadian immigration applications to obtain Study Permits, Visitor Records, Permanent Residence Card renewals, Work Permits (Labour Market Impact Assessment-based, Labour Market Impact Assessment-exempted, NAFTA, Intra-Company Transfer, Post-Graduation), Visitor and Business Visitor Visas, and Permanent Residence (Express Entry, Federal Skilled Worker, CEC, PNP, Family Sponsorship), as well as Employer Compliance Reviews and Inspections.

As a law student, Sjarif worked as a Research Assistant and completed an academic internship with a research centre at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law, during which he summarized reports and case law on World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Subsidies. He also completed an internship with the Privy Council Office, Constitutional and Legal Affairs, where he drafted reports on issues related to Aboriginal self-government in Canada. During his law studies, Sjarif received a scholarship to attend the Academy of International Trade Law at the Institute of European Studies of Macau, China. While completing his undergraduate studies at James Madison University, Sjarif received a grant for his honours research project on bilingualism in Quebec.

Sjarif’s community involvement includes serving as a co-founding member of the Ottawa Asian Heritage Month Society.
