Description

Electronic Travel Authorizations – Navigating the new System

Visa-exempt foreign nationals will require an eTA to travel to Canada starting September 29, 2016. The number of visa-exempt travellers arriving each year is significantly greater than visa-required citizens. In fact, not counting USA citizens, visa-exempt travellers represent about 74 per cent of all foreign nationals arriving in Canada by air.

For many of them, the process will be smooth and they will not need professional services. But many can be expected to experience eTA problems – they may not get it on time, or have trouble applying, or be denied entirely. Others will receive their electronic approval only to be refused boarding at the airport due to design features of the system. Practitioners will need to know how the system works, and be prepared to troubleshoot problems effectively.

This seminar takes an in-depth look at application process for eTAs, focussing mainly on the anticipated problem areas in non-routine eTA cases of interest to practitioners. It aims to equip you to troubleshoot the inevitable glitches, failures and frustrations on the horizon as the public tries to navigate the eTA system, and possibly develop a line of business in this area.
